Governance
The National Indigenous University Senior Leaders' Association (NIUSLA) unites Indigenous senior administrative leaders from across Canadian universities who hold institution-wide mandates. This strategic alliance creates a powerful collective voice within higher education leadership.
Through NIUSLA, members engage in transformative dialogue that shapes institutional practices and policies, while building a collaborative community of practice that strengthens Indigenous leadership across the post-secondary landscape.
Our governance approach embodies Indigenous values of reciprocity, relationship-building, and collective wisdom. We leverage our members’ diverse expertise to:
- Establish the definitive national network for Indigenous senior university leaders
- Cultivate leadership capacity through shared resources and innovative processes
- Develop strategic initiatives that advance Indigenous priorities in academia
- Shape post-secondary policy at provincial and national levels
- Center and uphold Indigenous knowledge systems in all our work
- Champion the needs and aspirations of Indigenous communities within university contexts
